SANBORN, N.Y. - Sept. 23, 2026 - PRLog -- The 48th WorldSkills Competition is underway in Shanghai, China, bringing together nearly 1,400 young skilled professionals from 68 countries and regions to compete across 64 skill competitions. Among them are Autonomous Mobile Robotics (AMR) and Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS), two technology-driven skills that showcase the growing importance of robotics, automation, programming, electronics, and problem-solving. 36 Competitors from 21 countries are competing in AMR, and 11 Competitors from 11 countries are competing in UAS.

AMR challenges Competitors to design, build, program, and test mobile robots while demonstrating skills in areas including mechanical systems, electronics, sensors, autonomous navigation, and control systems. The official WorldSkills AMR collection provides the components and technology Competitors need to build and configure their competition robots.

WorldSkills Shanghai 2026 also marks the debut of Unmanned Aerial Systems as a WorldSkills skill. Competitors will apply skills in areas such as flight control, navigation, sensors, electronics, software, and troubleshooting as they work with unmanned aircraft systems.

Earlier this year, Studica Robotics partnered with WorldSkills Jamaica to support an international AMR and UAS training camp, bringing together Competitors and Experts from Jamaica, Brazil, Barbados, China, and Singapore. The hands-on program provided experience with the technologies and competition methodologies Competitors would encounter in Shanghai.
