Supreme Cannabis Company (TSX.V: FIRE) (OTCQX: SPRWF) (FRA: 53S1) this morning announced the release of its financial and operating results for the three and six months ended December 31, 2018. According to the update, Q2 2019 highlights include: revenue of $7.72 million, reflecting a 359 percent increase from Q2 2018 and a 50 percent increase from Q1 2019; a net comprehensive loss of $1.55 million, compared net losses of $2.03 million in Q2 2018 and $5.39 million in Q1 2019. In addition, Supreme Cannabis strengthened its balance sheet during the quarter by raising gross proceeds of $100 million through a bought deal offering of 6 percent unsecured convertible debentures due 2021 led by GMP Securities L.P. and BMO Capital Markets. The company’s wholly-owned subsidiary, 7ACRES, was deemed Brand of the Year at the 2018 Canadian Cannabis Awards and completed first shipments of its branded cannabis to six of Canada’s provincially regulated adult-use channels. Supreme Cannabis also engaged Medipharm Labs Co. to facilitate launch of the company’s cannabis oil products line and entered into a international partnership agreement with Khalifa Kush Enterprises to develop and launch premium cannabis products for the Canadian and international markets excluding the U.S.

“During the second quarter we made our first shipments of 7ACRES-branded product to adult-use markets in six provinces,” Supreme Cannabis CEO Navdeep Dhaliwal said in the news release. “The consumer feedback has been overwhelmingly positive. Cannabis enthusiasts are vocal about their passion for high-quality cannabis. We believe 7ACRES has quickly established itself as Canada’s only premier cannabis producer at scale. With construction on the flowering room at 7ACRES scheduled to be completed by the end of March, we’re looking forward to increasing our production capacity to help meet consumer demand and drive further revenue growth throughout the year.  This quarter validated many aspects of our consumer driven market thesis and demonstrates the strength of our intellectual property around scaled cultivation.”

Sri Lankan woman loses most of her family in Easter bombings

Apr 24, 2019

NEGOMBO, Sri Lanka — Before the undertakers could move in, Anusha Kumari wrested herself away from her sisters and flung herself on the three coffins, wailing. In an instant on Sunday, the 43-year-old woman was left childless and a widow when suicide bombers launched a coordinated attack on churches and luxury hotels in and near Sri Lanka's capital of Colombo. The toll was highest at St. Sebastian's Church in Negombo. Of the more than 350 people killed by the suicide bombings that the government blamed on Muslim extremists, about a third of them died at the church in the seaside...

UK's May under fire as Parliament returns from Brexit break

Apr 24, 2019

LONDON — British Prime Minister Theresa May faced renewed pressure Tuesday from her restive Conservative Party to resign as lawmakers returned to Parliament — and to Brexit wrangling — after an 11-day Easter break. Britain's European Union exit, long scheduled to take place last month, has been delayed as the government tries to win Parliament's backing for a divorce agreement. The bloc has given Britain until Oct. 31 to ratify an agreement or leave the 28-nation EU without a deal to smooth the way. Most economists believe that a no-deal Brexit would plunge Britain into recession as customs checks take...

New photos mark 1st birthday of Britain's Prince Louis

Apr 24, 2019

LONDON — Britain's Prince William and his wife, Kate, have released new photos of their youngest child Prince Louis to celebrate his first birthday. Prince Louis reached the milestone on Tuesday. The photos, taken by Kate, show him playing in the garden of the family's home in Norfolk, on England's eastern coast. Louis is fifth in line to the throne, behind his grandfather, Prince Charles, his father, Prince William, his brother, Prince George, and his sister, Princess Charlotte. Louis is a great-grandson of Queen Elizabeth II, who turned 93 on Sunday. He has largely been kept out of the public...

SeaWorld publishes decades of orca data to help wild whales

Apr 24, 2019

SEATTLE — The endangered killer whales of the Pacific Northwest live very different lives from orcas in captivity. They swim up to 100 miles (161 kilometers) a day in pursuit of salmon, instead of being fed a steady diet of baitfish and multivitamins. Their playful splashing awes and entertains kayakers and passengers on Washington state ferries instead of paying theme park customers. But the captive whales are nevertheless providing a boon to researchers urgently trying to save wild whales in the Northwest. SeaWorld, which displays orcas at its parks in California, Texas and Florida, has recently published data from thousands...

Trump opens Easter Egg Roll with talk of economy, military

Apr 24, 2019

WASHINGTON — Taking part in one of the oldest White House traditions, President Donald Trump blew a whistle and sent spoon-wielding kids into a frenzy Monday as they used the wooden utensils to coax hard-boiled eggs to the finish line during the annual Easter Egg Roll. "This is 141 years that we've been doing this," Trump said, addressing the crowd from the Truman Balcony, where he was joined by first lady Melania Trump before they came downstairs to mingle with guests on the South Lawn. "I don't remember the first one," Trump joked of the tradition that began in 1878...
